From the very beginning, the vision for the property was to create a hotel that felt timeless, elegant, and deeply connected to East African design while still embracing modern comfort and functionality. Built entirely from the ground up, every level of the hotel was carefully planned to create a seamless guest experience that balances relaxation, wellness, dining, and contemporary luxury.

The four-storey property has been thoughtfully designed around both the landscape and the lifestyle of Entebbe. Natural light, open spaces, and warm materials are carried throughout the building, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, welcoming, and sophisticated from the moment guests arrive.

At the lowest level, Basement 2 was designed as the hotel's wellness and leisure hub. This floor opens onto the swimming pool and outdoor garden areas, creating a relaxed social atmosphere surrounded by greenery. Guests can enjoy poolside dining, a traditional pizza oven, and access to Activate Body Therapy, the hotel's wellness centre featuring a gym, massage rooms, sauna, and steam facilities. Several pool-view rooms are also located on this level, allowing guests to step directly into the tranquil outdoor spaces from their accommodation.

Above this, Basement 1 offers a quieter and more private environment, with a collection of lake view rooms and standard rooms designed for comfort and simplicity. This level also houses the hotel's intimate 14-person conference centre, providing a professional yet relaxed setting for meetings and private gatherings. Functional spaces such as staff and storage areas were integrated carefully into the design to ensure smooth day-to-day operations without compromising the guest experience.

The heart of Hemingways Hotel is found on the ground floor, where architecture and atmosphere come together most visibly. The reception and concierge area was intentionally designed to feel open and inviting rather than formal or transactional. Guests are welcomed into elegant interiors defined by soaring exposed ceiling beams, soft natural tones, rounded archways, and carefully selected statement pieces that celebrate East African craftsmanship.

One of the most striking features within the hotel is the collection of handcrafted Tanzanian wooden doors used throughout the main restaurant and dining spaces. Rich in texture and character, these doors act as artistic focal points that anchor the contemporary interiors with heritage and authenticity. Marble flooring adds a sense of refinement, while modern furniture and layered lighting soften the spaces to create warmth and comfort.

Wabi Sabi, the hotel's signature restaurant, was designed to feel both stylish and intimate. A dedicated sushi bar forms the centrepiece of the dining experience, while flexible seating areas allow the restaurant to transition seamlessly from relaxed breakfasts to elegant evening dining. Adjacent to reception is a private seating area that can also be reserved for exclusive dinners and special occasions, adding another layer of personalised hospitality to the property.

The first floor continues the hotel's understated luxury with additional lake view and standard rooms, alongside two of the property's most spacious accommodations: the Luxury Suite with Kitchen and Lounge, and the Luxury Lake View Suite with Kitchen and Lounge. These suites were designed for longer stays and guests seeking a more residential experience, combining apartment-style living with full hotel services.

Crowning the property is the second-floor penthouse — an exclusive private space designed to offer elevated comfort, panoramic views, and complete privacy.
